Used Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester made its U.S. debut in 1997 as one of the very first crossover SUVs. The original tagline of “SUV Tough, Car Easy” perfectly summed up the Forester’s combination of car-like handling and SUV power and ruggedness. In 2008, Subaru unveiled the 3rd generation Forester, with a new look designed by chief designer Mamoru Ishii. This new Forester embraced the crossover SUV look, eschewing the older wagon based design. The Forester went through another redesign in 2014, becoming slightly larger, increasing its fuel economy, and replacing the automatic transmission with a CVT. The 6-speed manual remains an option.

The 3rd and 4th generation Foresters share similar specs, both powered by a 2.0L (upgradable to 2.5L) H4 engine, with an optional 2.0L Turbodiesel available. Equipped with the proper accessories, the Forester has a towing capacity of 1500 lbs. With the rear seats folded down, the vehicle has a cargo space of 69 cubic feet, and the 4th generation remodel gains an additional 5 cubic feet. Possibly the most impressive new feature in the redesigned Forester is the X-Mode, which allows drivers to tackle more extreme conditions by automatically distributing torque to all four wheels, eliminating the threat of free-spinning tires.
