2019 Subaru Forester Preview: 3 Features to Be Excited About

A Subaru Forester with more safety features, a more spirited engine, and more interior amenities? Yes, please.

Unveiled at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, the all-new 2019 Subaru Forester has been completely redesigned from the inside out. Below, we explain all of the great new features of this crossover that will land in dealerships across the nation later this year.

Overview of the All-New 2019 Subaru Forester

Advanced Active Safety

An increasing number of vehicles are now offered with active safety systems, but most of these come at a premium price tag. The 2019 Subaru Forester, however, comes standard with the award-winning EyeSight™ Driver Assist Technology, and it’s just like having an extra set of eyes on the road.

This system monitors traffic, optimizes cruise control, and can even apply full braking force when a potential collision is detected. On the Touring trim, there’s even a system that aims to reduce distracted driving with its facial recognition system. Let’s say you become distracted or drowsy. DriverFocus will give you a helpful alert to pay attention to the road.

Performance Upgrades

Under the hood, Forester owners will appreciate the newly updated 182-horsepower SUBARU BOXER™ engine with direct injection. It also comes with Auto Start-Stop functionality, which shuts off the engine when the vehicle is at a standstill and switches it back on as needed to save on fuel. In fact, the all-new Forester features a manufacturer-estimated fuel economy of 33 mpg.

For added confidence on off-road adventures, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive helps you gain traction in challenging road conditions and incorporates an available dual-mode X-MODE system with Hill Descent Control, so you remain in charge of the drive no matter where you go.

Updated SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia

With the refreshed STARLINK Multimedia system, staying connected has never been easier. You can send out texts, make phone calls and play music right from the available 8-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration — just connect your compatible device.

STARLINK Multimedia also adds built-in Wi-Fi capability and an available 576-watt-equivalent Harman Kardon premium audio system to keep passengers entertained throughout every journey.
